Do not buy!!
Bought used car from this Branch at the end of June. Was assured it had been checked and serviced thoroughly. They wouldn't sell me a car unless they had done so!! Day after delivery - loud bang under car as I was driving along, metal on metal. Sitting on friends driveway, started car - same loud bang and I hadn't moved! Took car into the branch. Said it was exhaust and had to take it back, they would call me. I called them week later. Took it in later that week. They replaced exhaust and checked tyre since a warning light had also come on within days of purchase, though they had told me they had done all servicing! They said they could not find a puncture but had resealed tyre. At first the car seemed to drive better but I then notice a noise like growling I couldn't explain but it went off. I lost power on hills a couple of times but again intermittent. Next thing loud bang again, worse when reversing and on turn of wheel. Reported the problem and asked for diagnostic test. Given no advice as to whether to drive car or not, just take it in the next week. Appointment booked. Few days later had both a call and a text to confirm appointment. I called back and confirmed. Next day, texts asking me to confirm, email asking me to confirm, yet another text! Link they sent uncontactable! Got in my car today - bang, bang, bang, bang just getting it off the drive. Got someone to listen and was told to put it back on the drive, it sounds undriveable! Three months I've had it and I can't drive it. Back to Stonehouse - "We don't recover vehicles you will have to have it recovered to us!" Objected this was not the ultimate customer service they had so profusely promised! Eventually said they could recover it 3 days later, on a day when I had another appointment. Would they do another day? NO! NO! NO! And just to upset me further, tried to tell me it could not be noise I had heard previously it could be something new. It was exactly the same sound. I had had enough. Phoned branch as opposed to national service centre - complained to sales manager about this, he supposedly put me through to his service manager but was in fact put through to national centre again. Eventually back to Middlesbrough and waited and waited for call to be answered. Service manager - Can only do Thursday! So what about next week? Well would you believe - Thursday again. Of course they will do it if I get it recovered myself! Totally supercilious attitude, no recognition of the fact I had been promised better service or of the fact that I had the car such a short period of time and it had already been in for same problems. So this 77 year old, who is totally distressed at the thought that £8000 had been paid for a duff car, is going to have to make yet more calls to RAC to get car recovered since Stoneacre are totally unwilling to put themselves out and have no shame in selling me a car that I probably should never have been driving around anyway. New noise?????? No way, this is very same noise i experienced in the first few days after purchase and I have not 1 but 2 passengers who will bear witness to it. My nephew asked me if anyone had taken the wheel off at any point - well Stoneacre had resealed the tyre - had they taken wheel off? "Oh don't worry -- We'll look after you. It's under warranty. You'll get a curtesy car and so on!" Never been offered one. DO NOT TRUST This Garage!
