Regrettably I have to give the Vindis group Audi in Northampton one star. I called to enquire as to the price for a transmission oil change AND new filter and was told by the representative on the phone, in no uncertain terms, that the filter was included in the price. When I then arrived to drop off my car the dealership said this was not the case and it would be an extra £70. I understand people make mistakes and the sales rep at the dealership made it right by knocking off the car rental cost so I went ahead. When I got my car back, (and before I left the dealership), I checked the engine bay to confirm all was well, as I always do, and was most surprised to see that the transmission filter only had 2 bolts holding it in instead of the 3 it should have! I brought this to the attention of staff who appeared as concerned as I was. Had I not checked, I would have driven off and likely lost oil which would have eventually led to my transmission failing and at the price of a new one-that would have been a write off for me and I doubt I would have had any recourse with the dealership. They allowed me to keep the rental for another day while they sorted it but it is staggering to me that this sort of huge oversight of a very basic task would happen at a main dealer. I had gone there because I wanted the peace of mind that an Audi accredited technician would be working on my car but I have now lost all confidence in them. The next day I was told that the person working on my vehicle had said that ‘new bolts did not come with the filter’ and that they ‘had to order them’. I can only surmise from this that the technician had lost one of the original bolts and rather than tell anyone-had decided to keep quiet and hope only two would do and no one would notice! Completely unacceptable. Now, I have to say that the customer care I received was good but that would be a secondary requirement to the diligence and integrity of the person working on my vehicle and the quality of the work carried out which in this case was severely lacking and could have cost me a new car. Unfortunately Vindis Audi in Northampton have now lost a prospective long term customer as I believe this was not just a case of a one off mistake but a wilful act to complete shoddy work, at their customers expense.
