fraudulant warranty practices

Our experience with Motor Parc has been very disappointing. We recently purchased a vehicle from them and encountered an issue when the car stereo stopped working the very next day after the purchase. Upon discovering the issue with the car stereo, we promptly contacted Motor Parc to seek a resolution. Instead of acknowledging their responsibility for selling a faulty product, they seemed determined to avoid taking any blame. They claimed that the issue was not covered under any warranty and insisted that we was solely responsible for the malfunction. Under the Consumer Rights Act, consumers have the right to expect that the goods they purchase are of satisfactory quality and as described. Unfortunately, the stereo not working meant we had no use of the parking systems or maps in which we bought the car to use. It was clear that they were more interested in dodging their obligations rather than respecting the rights of their customers. After refusing to address the issue, they conveniently offered an extended warranty after the fact, at an additional cost. This blatant attempt to upsell a warranty and is an outright act of fraud. After consulting with citizens advise who assured me Motor Parc had a responsibility to fix or refund, we sent a letter advising of this. Their response was to pay for the warranty themselves and were adamant it wasn’t fraud. We did not want to be part of this and rejected this offer. Eventually they offered us part of the payment to fix the stereo or return the car to them for a refund, but at this point we had spent money on a new windscreen which cracked the day after purchase, a new tyre as a past puncture repair had blown and had to fix the leaking sunroof, all of which we chose not to ask them for help with due to the terrible customer service surrounding the stereo, so would be a major loss to return the car. We took the part payment as we just wanted the situation dealt with after being without a stereo for weeks. We strongly urge prospective buyers to exercise extreme caution when dealing with Motor parc. Their failure to uphold their responsibilities, combined with their fraudulent warranty practices, indicates a lack of integrity and a disrespect for consumer rights. We regret making the decision to trust them with my purchase, and I hope this review serves as a warning to others looking for a reputable and trustworthy car dealer.
