Not a great experience

I cannot recommend Ian Grieve for the following reasons. I purchased a Compass Trailhawk (with 19k miles) and within a few days it broke down. They had the car for two weeks and took it on a 277 mile road test and returned the car with vomit down the side of the passenger seat. They were also unable to rectify the fault and the car was returned to them 5 times in total during my short ownership. Each time they had the car for two weeks and were unable to fix it. On the final occasion, it was returned to me with loose subframe bolts. I only noticed as there was a banging coming from underneath. Two bolts were gone and the other two only had less than 2 threads until they dropped out also (this wasnt even where the banging was coming from). This would have been catastrophic if the subframe dropped as the steering column would have seperated and I would have had no steering. The car was plagued with mechanical and electrical faults. Too many to list. It broke down in the right hand lane of a motorway. The brakes were unresponsive at a junction one morning. They were able to provide a courtesy car, but only if I could make the journey back to them. That didn't help me when I was broken down at home with a 2 week waiting time from RAC. I had to get Jeep involved and open up a case as I was being ignored. I returned the car for a refund (but incurred a deduction for mileage driven. Even though 400 miles was on road tests by them and 400 miles was returning it to be fixed multiple times (when it wasn't recovered by the RAC) Once they agreed to refund the car I offered to remove my dash cam wiring but they insisted they do it. They cut up the wiring rendering the rear dash cam useless. They also didn't pay the agreed amount when they refunded me. It was stressful driving this car, especially trying to nurse it back to the dealership several times. Owning this car had been expensive and time consuming and kept leaving me stranded. This was a terrible car and I feel sorry for whoever bought it next.
