Never again
I bought a used Mokka a year ago. Salesman did everything he could to avoid a test drive. I quickly realised why. It took 6 months to get rid of the smell of smoking in the car. We returned to the service department as the car was holding back and no acceleration and we were charged £115 for a fuel filter. And told if they don’t find a fault we need to pay for the diagnostic check at £170 if I remember correctly. The fault continued, the brakes also screeched in reverse. The auto gear changes were awful and the rear number plate was wonky. Toomey agreed to change the brake part under warranty. Brake calliper damper.but informed me it was a normal service item and was simply worn out. I was told that the gear box was fine and no problem found. Apparently the mechanic has test driven the car ( I assume the odometer was disconnected during the test drive as mileage has changed very little at under a mile ) I was told the wonky rear plate would be sorted. ‘It wasn’t ‘ The wait to have the brakes sorted was about six weeks. I gave up. My local mobile mechanic has just serviced the car. The brakes were due to the fact that my Mokka didn’t have the brake caliper dampers fitted from new( which apparently Toomey’s had checked ) The gearbox was due to the fact the transmission fluid was thick and black, it should be red. The sluggishness and problems were caused by the fuel pressure control valve, that was faulty. My mobile mechanic sorted out the car in about an hour that Toomey’s team failed to find. I recently called Toomey’s to have an under warranty, brand new Vauxhall Vivaro van repaired with an AdBlue fault. The wait time seven weeks !! I explained we desperately need to van for business, I was told that’s the soonest. I even explained we buy 6 vans new every year or two and was told, it’s still seven weeks. Obviously the vans we are about to buy will be the Citroen badged version and definitely not from Toomey if a warranty repair takes a minimum of 7 weeks. The staff running service reception were lovely, very polite, I dearly feel for them as they deserve a dealership that has a service department and sales department that is less incompetent. I’d certainly never recommend Toomey’s as a reliable trustworthy company. I’ll fix the wonky number plate myself, but will order new as mine say Toomey’s on them.
