Awlful Place. Avoid.
Took my car here for a safety recall, letter told me it was a software update that was required and should take about 40 minutes. When I booked it in I was told about 30 minutes. I got my car back after an hour and was told they had carried out a 'free' health check. I never authorised this and car was serviced by this dealer about 6 week ago. Well the outcome was almost an £1200 bill for work that is required, 2 items being 'Immediate' (2 tyres with 3-4mm of tread, legal limit is 1.6mm) and 3 other as upcoming. They want £258 a tire (Black Circles are £208 for same tire they quoted and another top brand equivelent is around £180)! daylight robbery! When asked about overinflating tyres and uneven wear, apparently they only inflate to manufacturer specs, then go on to say they inflate to 36 PSI, Hyundai spec is 35/40 PSI for my car depending on load, so 36 PSI is not to spec. They are overinflating/Dangerously underinflating by their own admission, as they know better than the manufacturer. Stupidity and arrogance from a business that claim to be responsible. The contradictions they come out with are unreal. Even the technician video states 'the front tyres are 3mm at the lowest point, above the 1.6mm legal limit, anything under 2.9mm is a red item as per Hyundai service centre and will need replacing in the future'. So why has the report been marked as requiring immedate attention. A £1200 bill for a 14 month old car, there is nothing free about the unauthoried heath check! Its clearly a shady business ploy to scare people to pay for work that is NOT immediately needed buy could be upcoming soon, under the disguise of being a responsible business. It does make you wonder, if this is a one off or a regular practice to make extra money off of unsuspecting customers. Quite frankly the arrogance of this dealership and the brand manager are astonishing. Brand manager not willing to listen to customer feedback as quite simply he know best. Its simple, if you dont listen to your returning customers, they will go elsewhere, Its that simple. The brand director also claims that they decide that the Vehicle Health Checks are complusory (without as much as asking thier customers if they want them done), even though Hyundai UK dont, because they are a responsible business. However they didnt want to be a responsible business when their employee was blasting my new car around at 85mph, whith an engine managment light on! When asked why my car had never had this check done before, he said 'hand on heart, its been done eveytime you car has been in'. I said where is the evidance for that. Apparently if its on the system they will provide it. I did say to him that they need to ask to carry out these checks as its not their vehicle, I was met with with all due respect its not your business! What a way to speak to your customers! It's clear to see why main dealers get such a bad reputation, with directors like this.
