Vehicle FAULTS and POOR After Sales Care
Alarm System Service warning as soon as car was started. Naively unperturbed and following reassurances during the 5 minute test drive route about Motor Village’s willingness to help customers sort any problems out, I purchased the car at the asking price. I was then suitably impressed when the salesman drew my attention to the MAXIMUM warranty CLAIM LIMIT of £200 (!) once they had my money and I was about to leave. Then discover within a few hours a Rear Door was NOT locking. No problem, they said, yes take the car to Volvo and obtain an estimate, so I did - REJECTED. Once they had the £427 estimate suddenly they are talking about second hand parts, further estimates and finding a garage with a £60/hr labour rate. Where we live finding a reliable garage that charges £60/hr requires time travel. To move things forward I agreed if they ordered me a new lock actuator, which they did directly from CHINA, 6000 miles away - it never arrived. Anticipating delays/problems I ordered my own actuator and spent an afternoon fitting it, made a £120 claim for my time - REJECTED. But you said you’d wait for the part from CHINA and where is your estimate and VAT invoice? Motor Village generously offered to issue a refund for the actuator I had ordered but ONLY if they were able to receive a refund for the part they’d ordered from CHINA that never arrived! Let’s refund you £69 and bring this matter to a close they said, after all we had to fit a new tyre to that Honda (!) - The car I’d traded in as SCRAP!! Alarm Service Fault fortunately just a couple more hours of work; removing the wheel, wheel arch liner, unbolting the siren, angle grinding it open, soldering in replacing rechargeable batteries and glueing it all back together. Didn’t even bother speaking to them about this after the door lock actuator debacle. And - No Car User Manual supplied, had to call within minutes of driving away. They organised a pdf replacement, but text is so small you’d need a bionic eye to read it. A happy ending but only if you enjoy watching YouTube repair videos, ordering your own parts, have a decent set of tools and don’t expect any recompense for your time and effort taken to undertake repairs :) Will certainly NEVER USE Motor Village Bristol again.
