Buying a Porsche - Think again

I note good reviews on here. I have to say I have had experience with - not only Porsche Sheffield, but also Porsche Chesterfield and Porsche Nottingham and never had a good experience with any of them. That said, I'm not Mr Angry nor Victor Meldrew - just someone who reports good service when he's had it, and likewise poor service too. I'll restrict my comments to Porsche Sheffield. I've had 2 dealings with them in the last 18 months or so. Communication is always poor - taking an eon to get a response....if at all. The first occasion was when I needed a new key for my Cayenne. The key was fine. What I didnt like was the targeting of the Service to "sell" me repairs. I accept its a practice of many Main Dealers but to receive a quote for some £800.00 of "repairs" was just plain irritating. I checked with my usual Porsche Specialist who reported the "repairs" didnt need doing. Moving on to the second time - November 2022. Probably the worst. Shocking Customer Service [it would take too long to go through it here]. But the Cayenne being a 2011 I wanted the SatNav updating. Cost £250.00. They had the car 3 days (there were some "recalls" to do too. I eventually got a call from the Receptionist on the 3rd day to say "sorry, we cant do it the PCM system wont accept the update. OK, fair enough says I. I get the car back and 2 days later I want to use the Satnav. It wont work, the maps are totally wiped off the system and its totally useless. Complaint to Porsche Sheffield revealed that it was my fault and that the PCM was faulty, no help, no resolution no nothing. So I'd say if your looking for a Porsche Repair, go to an independent Porsche Specialist. That said I'm sure they'd love to sell you one. As a footnote I received today the following ....so if you ARE think of buying a Porsche - think again https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-11512169/Porsche-named-unreliable-car-brand-ahead-Land-Rover.html Basically its a report from Warrantywise which idicates from their statistics that "The premium German brand has just been named the most unreliable car maker in a report that analyses the volume of faults, cost of repairs and days off the road for all the major manufacturers."
