Very Hit or Miss!!

I was looking for a car for my daughter and found one she liked at Coseley Auto Centre. I live in the Highlands of Scotland but decided to take a leap of faith and booked a flight from Inverness to Birmingham and then took a taxi to Coseley. The car was well presented and we went for a (very) short test drive. We agreed the price and I asked to see the V5c, which I was told was unavailable, as the car had been a Cat 'S' damaged repairable (as advertised) and the insurance company had destroyed the paperwork. There was no handbook or service book available with the car either. Coseley seem to specialise in damaged repairable cars. I then tried to tax the car online, as I didn't want to drive it 480miles North with no road tax, that would be asking for trouble!! You can't do this online without a V5c but the salesman contacted the local post office and we were able to organise the tax by phone. Coseley state that they offer a 3 month warranty but this is not underwritten and is a verbal offer only (but written at the top of the sales sheet) and only includes engine or gearbox issues, nothing else. Remember, I'm travelling 9hrs North and it's highly unlikely I'll be travelling back to Birmingham with an engine problem. On the plus side, the salesman was very helpful, even though he was not as knowledgeable about cars or the registering / tax process. Thankfully I made the journey North with no issues and so far, the car seems to be OK. Fingers Crossed that I've not bought a lemon!!
