AVOID!
I was making a genuine enquiry regarding a 2016 white BMW X3. I wanted to ask some questions - I have experience in motor vehicle engineering therefore I know what sort of questions to ask and the answers to expect. I was prepared to make the 70 mile journey but just wanted to raise a few queries. I spoke with Richard who is the owner - he was initially pleasant but as soon as I made reference to a previous MOT (4 months ago) and tyre issues, as well as general questions about any scratches, scuffs, etc. I also asked if the garage does 99 point health checks as most garages usually do this. Richard indicated that they don’t look at the cars nor check anything - in a previous conversation he told me it was a good honest car but if I wanted to get someone to check it was down to me. I work for the NHS and 70 miles is a long way to drive so the purpose of my call was to prevent wasting my own or anyone else’s time. I felt when I scratched the surface with questions about the car Richard became quite defensive then proceeded to tell me I was wasting his time in a nasty obnoxious and unprofessional manner and slammed the phone down. I phoned straight back but his son answered who was very apologetic and said he would have a word with him. I just feel that I want people to be aware of this man’s attitude how nasty and rude he comes across I just wonder what the after sales would be like if you had to take a car back under warranty. When you are looking to spend £17,500 without finance or a part ex its only right that you check on things. I feel the whole attitude of Richard Ellis is so arrogant and obnoxious I would seriously think twice before dealing with this company - I am a genuine person and the experience has left a bitter taste. I have since read another review of someone else’s similar experience it would suggest this is not a one off or somebody having a bad day. AVOID! Take your money elsewhere.
