Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. In late December 2021 I purchased a BMW 120i from Canvey Chariots [Phil] for £9,500 with 3 Years AA Warranty. A few months later, the check engine light appeared. I called up and they agreed to get it fixed. They replaced the engine coils as there was a misfire. They gave me a loan car for this duration. Then the engine light reappeared a couple of days later. I went through the process again, with them changing the spark plugs this time. While this was ongoing, I asked for a loan car and they told me I could not have a loan car as their insurance doesn't cover under 21s - despite the previous time where they gave me a loan car & also provided documentation assuring me I was insured to drive the loan car. I raised this with them and they told me I would have not been insured when I was driving this vehicle. So refused to give me a loan car despite Phil telling me they would if anything went wrong with the car. I got the car back, and a couple of days later, the engine light reappeared again. Then they took the car in and ordered fuel injectors (I was informed there was a back-log for this with the high volume of orders). On this occasion, they agreed to provide a loan car and pay for my insurance. The loan car they gave me had just came in as a part exchange and was absolutely filthy with a thick coat of dog hairs everywhere. Phil also told me they put £20 worth of fuel in the loan car for me, it was on empty when I received it (with the light on) so this wasn't true. I raised this with Canvey Chariots. While they had my car in for repair, they told me they would service it out of good will. After around 2 weeks (and 'new' fuel injectors), my car was returned. They had smashed the wind screen and had not said anything. Additionally, the engine oil light came on the next day so they clearly didn't service my car despite providing a receipt for a service! Then the following day, the check engine light returned again and the fault read a misfire in cylinder 3 (as opposed to the previous cylinder 4) so I suspect they just switched the injectors round and didn't change them! To top it off, my dash cam was recording all of their conversations while fixing / test driving my car and I have a video of them referring to me as a 'c***'. I then returned the car for a refund. It is clear they have resold this car with the ongoing issue as the Canvey Chariots Mechanic called me earlier today to confirm 'my' booking for the BMW which I no longer own. I'll also be posting the aforementioned video on YouTube as proof & have a very long email trail to prove all of my points above. Please think carefully before buying a car from these cowboys.
