Dissatisfied C

Not the best experience

Our experience with AGB wasn't great. We purchased a vehicle from them in Oct 2021. Around 2-3 weeks after we started driving it we noticed issues, some little issues, some big. Car had an automated boot lid, this would only open half way then stop, 12v socket in front didn't work, the washer bottle had to be constantly topped up because it leaked - these are the minor issues which we sorted out at our own cost at a local garage. Some of the major issues are it was incredibly sluggish to start from cold and would often cut out initially, having to re-start it several times, it also had some kind of a gearbox fault with the dash screen intermittently reporting that there was an issue and to get it serviced. After lots of back and forth with Mihai at AGB, with him promising a courtesy car, due to us being a 3 hour round trip from him, an offer which he subsequently rescinded citing that the BMW 3 series he promised "Had an oil leak" - Surely you'd just get it fixed!? He agreed to look at and potentially repair the faults with the vehicle. We took it to them, they had it for around 10 days, Mihai was cagey about giving details to what the fault was or providing any written paperwork to show what had been repaired. Eventually I ascertained that it was a glow plug relay, and a number of valves in the auto gear box, along with a few other items. We returned to collect it, completed a test drive which seemed OK, however the vehicle was disgustingly dirty inside, with big muddy foot prints in both foot wells and sweet/drink wrappers left inside, as if they'd be using it to drive around. Surely you'd get someone to clear the vehicle, as a gesture of goodwill, or at least not to leave it in a worse state then when the customer dropped it off. We took the car back home and within 3 days the same issue with the gearbox had recurred, with it going in to a limp mode. I informed Mihai of this, and said that we had lost confidence in the vehicle and no longer wanted it. He told me that he had another opportunity to repair it and that I should bring it back to him. As I couldn't afford to do another 3 hour round trip twice, and coupled with the potential 10 day car hire cost, I informed him that the law says within 6 months he has 1 opportunity to repair it and if the same problem recurs then the customer is entitled to a full refund. I refused any further repairs and told him to either collect the vehicle or I would take further action. On several occasions whilst either speaking to or being at AGB, Mihai told me, when I'd mentioned returns/refunds & the law surrounding it, that within the last few years 5 people had taken him to court and he had won each time - This probably isn't something I'd even boast about if it was my business. The fact that you've had a number of dissatisfied customers, so much so that 5 of them have had to take you to court is a big red flag for me. If you're considering buying from AGB cars, my advice would be to think very carefully, I'm sure some of the vehicles they sell are fine, but for those that aren't the aftercare/customer service is what let them down and for that reason I've given them a 1 star and would avoid in future.
