Entertainment system fault
Really disappointed with my first encounter with Vines BMW. Phoned for advice with a fault on my 5 year old X3 entertainment system - continually rebooting. They advised they were unaware of a systemic problem and to bring it in. I asked "how much and was advised £120 to take a look!! What if it was just a simple reset I asked ......then it will be £60 they answered. Booked car in - met with my handler who advised it was £120.....no record of any conversation on the paper work. I asked - have you seen this issue before to which she responded "oh yes" 9 times out of 10 it is a simple reboot. OK so how much for a simple reboot - £120 she said. How much if the unit is faulty I asked: £1000 for unit replacement was the answer with barely an upward glance. I questioned why, if it was a replacement I was having to pay for unreliable BMW engineering. Take that up with BMW she said......"I thought I was" I responded. I left the place feeling like I was something unpleasant stuck to the bottom of her shoe. Vines phoned later in the day saying it was a simple system update with latest software. Got billed £120!! Of course, it is not the money, I recognise time is money but the attitude was appalling. Lesson Learned - Do not go back to Vines and find another dealer
