I would take the time to read this!
Buying your first car is such an exciting experience. We all know there are good car dealers & not so good car dealers out there. When I finally made the decision to buy my first ever car through Gary at Irwell motors I did so because they had some of the best reviews & customer feedback in the UK. I could not wait to go there & meet him personally & pick up my new motor. I did just that & everything went exactly as I had expected. We did a nice little chit chat, he did my paperwork in 10mins & I drove off into the sunset with a little smile. Then came the first problem. In the morning one of the rims had fallen off on the way back. I called up & he said he would replace it. No problem I said. Then a few days later because of my lack of experience I wasn't sure if the brakes were okay. I didnt know what to do so after umming & aaaring I put the car through a full service. Guess what they told me...? They found the front brakes were on the absolute limit of their working life. Irwell motors had pushed through these brakes without any advisories on the MOT to keep costs down. Then a few more days later the side trim started to pull apart because the glue was old & it would become a hazard if it were to fall off on the motorway. Then because of my lack of experience I noticed the back number plate lettering was all faded & needed to be replaced & I had to take it to the body shop to make the necessary repairs. What Gary is doing is finding good quality cars & then hes cutting corners. As it stands I'm out of pocket on things I don't feel I should be out of pocket for & its those small things that makes the difference between an excellent customer experience vs feeling taken advantage of. They paid for the brakes.... but they also pushed them through as a pass on the MOT. So what else are they capable of? When you see the incentive for a one year AA service... it's literally just a one off call out freebie. I eyerolled when I learned that & finally when scrolling through the their warranty it only covers up to £300. So if you get a car that has a more expensive failure within 3 months then you might as well assume theres no warranty. If a family member or friend asked me whether or not they would recommend Gary at Irwell Motors.... what do you think I would say? p.s I never did get those replacement rims.... they thought it was better just to give the silent treatment. All the best & thanks again!
