Not trustworthy

We bought an imported Audi from this dealer with the assurance that the car would be converted to UK specification and "upgraded" with an Apple Carplay system. The so called upgrade was worse than useless particularly in the country as the radio, navigation and obviously telephone was entirely dependent on the signal through the telephone handset. It was very easy to forget and press the radio or telephone button which took you back to an incomprehensible Japanese setup. Various Japanese fittings such as as security options for navigation and TV were left connected with annoying messages coming up saying a card was required. One amazing thing was that a flare had been left in the passenger footwell in a clip just where a dog or a child could get at it. Not easy to understand why or what the awful consequences would have been if it had been set off whilst the car was in motion. There were other irritation such as the odometer and tripmeter being set in kilometres without the ability to change. When we asked our local Audi dealer about repairs and replacements to any of the electronic components we were told it was not possible as the VIN indicated that the car was Japanese and that it was not possible to buy replacement parts or even service the car. Other details were just as irritating e.g. no second key and no possibility of getting one as the frequency used is different in Japan. Insist on an English translation of the service record and a new service book and English manuals (we were told to "steal" the one from our present car before selling it. When asked what the solution was we were recommended to a retrofitting specialist who could rip out the Japanese components and replace them with new Audi components and then re-code that car as a UK car with UK Satnav, UK radio, etc. The cost was £4500. Seymour Pope were uninterested in helping us initially and then simply failed to answer emails. If you are buying a car from this company which has been declared as imported from Japan insist on a retrofit of all components before agreeing to buy. In other respects the car was nicely prepared and drives well - it is just the "imported" category that needs wariness.
