Bought a £7k SUV from Warfields in Bracknell, he was friendly enough, but lacked any mechanical knowledge. The car was valeted well, it had a brand new tyre fitted, and a new key, test drove well, so all seemed fine. However, the next day after purchasing an engine management light came on. Further diagnostics by me revealed it was an IMRC fault. Whilst it drives OK, it has obviously reduced any future sell-on value so I need to get it fixed. Car is blowing out a lot of smoke under firm acceleration and I don't think its running properly. Potentially points to an old poor remap? I told him but he never offered to get it sorted, instead referred me to his outsourced warranty service. After some phone calls it transpired that they don't cover diagnostic assessments (which can be over £100), and only cover up to £40/hour labour (to give you some idea, the local Honda dealer charges £120/hour). So the warranty is not worth pursuing, I will have to fix the issues myself. Parking sensor system doesn't work, I doubt his claim that 'you just need to change a sensor' is correct. I never even got any front mats. And couldn't tax the car easily as he had given me the wrong V5 document, not sure how that happens. He took my car in part-ex, made £1500 on a sale, said it was full service history in the text but I know it wasn't. Always be wary of these car dealers.
