ripped off
We secured an E-class convertible with £200 last Friday. I wanted to check the car the next day while the deposit was fully refundable but we were told it was not possible because it was the seller's birthday. So I went three days later (the following Monday), it was a four-hour round trip (we have been looking for a manual gearbox for a while now). I inspected the car: the 4 tyres were over ''waxed'', the rubber looked stiff and showed little cracks all around, the car smelled of cheap deodorant, and there were not even any floor mats so I immediately lost confidence in the car... Felt awkward in his "office" which was set up in the kitchen of his house; I proposed to go halves on the deposit because he removed the advert from Auto Trader for the Easter weekend. The tone changed straight away and I was made to understand that a refund was not an option, as if I had "wasted his time" and changed my mind without reason - not the fact that I had wasted a journey and my family had lost £200 for a car which was not up to standard.
