Dodgy MOT

Bought a car a year ago and was initially very pleased with it. Couple of minor issues that were sorted straight away and the car was MOTd a week after purchase. However, a year down the line and barely any mileage added due to working from home the car failed it's MOT on a number of things, mainly brake pads and tyre wear. The mechanic who did it was amazed that there had never been so much as an advisory on previous MOTs and whoever did the last one must have been blindfolded. The upshot of all this is that I was sold a car with £500 work needing and the MOT wasn't carried out properly...
