Found a high spec XC40 I’ve spent weeks looking for on Autotrader, put a call into the dealership and spoke to James the sales manager who was really helpful, talked me through the journey of the car and travelled 120 miles to pick it up. Nothing felt like too much hassle and honestly I can’t fault the service from the moment I picked the phone up to them, will 100% be back in years to come.

In April my converible was booked in to correct a soft top malfunction. I was told the relays needed testing as diagnosis but that their machine was broken and to return 48 hours later. I was charged £90 to disassemble and reassemble the car with no outcome. I returned two days later, as booked in, to be told the engineer wasn't there. I tried again to re-book and was shocked to be told I would be classed as a new customer and charged £90 yet again just to get as far as I'd already paid for. My objection to the unfairness was referred to the Operations Manager who refuses to communicate with me. Wanting the job done I conceded, in writing, to Hitchfields' terms but all efforts to re-book go ignored. On 4 June I emailed the Operations Manager with detailed evidence of the position and calling for the return of £90 as Hitchfields is clearly not prepared to honour the work it commenced and refuses to complete. Total silence. Not a company to be trusted.

So Hitchfields replied to me with total lies. First of all… I did not buy the car a year ago. I bought the car on 01/07/2024 seen as we are not in July yet it obviously isn’t a year YET! Secondly I never said I wasn’t parked in front of the shutter doors, I said there was nowhere else to park. Staff were rude! And the parking is terrible. 3rd point. You say you “corrected the tracking with no cost to myself” of course there was no cost to myself because when I first reported the tracking off was a week after I bought the car therefore, A why wasn’t the tracking tested before I bought the car and B it was in the 3 months since first buying the car therefore you are obliged to sort any fault out within that timeframe. FREE! Also I paid £600 warranty for any fault with the electrics only to be told a few weeks ago that Hitchfields wouldn’t pay for any electrical fault. They would only look at it. I feel totally conned. Also they told me to speak to them to discuss matters so I emailed them. They don’t even reply when you do. Because they prefer to talk via phone which I don’t like to do as things can be denied on a phone. Overall experience. Terrible

Hithcfields LTD from Dealership in response to Total lies
Good Morning Andy, Sorry to see you feel you have to leave multiple reviews about your experience despite answering all your querries previously. You have misunderstood the purpose of the warranty as I tried to explain multiple times to yourself, Hitchfields would not cover the costs of this work as it is a warranty claim and I can't speak on what the warranty would cover without a formal diagnostic taking place which was offered to yourself but instead you have decided to leave a second 1 star review. The parking we adressed in our previous response and a member of our team politely requested your car be moved due to the spot parked in initially. The tracking has been adressed within the previous response. We have tried to reason with you but we are unable to see eye to eye on this matter unfortunately and you have made threats to the business by leveraging the fact you have a large social media following in an attempt to have us back down on our stance over a £90 diagnostic charge, we are honest people with nothing to hide and have done as much as we could to settle this matter with you including the offer of a complimentary inspection but again we apologise there is nothing more we can do on this ocassion for you, Kind regards, The Hitchfields Team

Good Morning Andy, Sorry you feel the need to leave us a second 1 star review, all points made have been covered in the initial response, again we can only apologise and wish you well for the future. Kind regards, The Hitchfields Team
called in on 2 weeks ago to have my car looked at that I bought from Hitchfields 8 months ago. I tried to park my car but was struggling for space, I was met with a very rude member of staff from Hitchfields telling me to park somewhere else! Telling me to park on another business premises. Then when I eventually got into the building I spoke to Matt about booking my car in for the back wiper looked at. Whilst I was there I mentioned the tracking that was offline, I contacted after sales via email within the first 2 months of purchasing the vehicle. We were told via phone that you were trying to find somewhere close to where we live to book the tracking in. So I mentioned the problem to Matt who I believe is after sales. Matt said he had never spoken to me and was unaware of the problem. He asked me for proof that I had spoken to someone and reported it. At the time I couldn’t find a paper trail of the report, I was made to feel like a liar! I managed to get the email up and showed Matt. He said oh sometimes it can get lost in spam! What a load of rubbish. I believe Hitchfields did not want to pay for the tracking doing. Fast forward to Wednesday the same day I brought the car in, I was told to pay £75 plus vat for the wiper looking at. Matt told us there was a good chance we would get our money back from the warranty. They fixed the wiper they said it was something and nothing, not a big job. We are still 95.00 down. I feel ripped off, I messaged Matt to ask for an explanation but he has not responded. This is unprofessional. I believe he tried to phone me but since I’ve been made to feel like a liar because I didn’t have proof I would like everything in writing whenever I communicate with Hitchfields. we are looking at fair trading rights and motor ombudsman. I’ve looked on google and trust pilot and it seems I’m not the only one recently that is unhappy! Your company was recommended by a friend who has bought two cars from you. I paid £18.000 for and Audi from you. The aftercare is terrible. I made a formal complaint via email and as of today NOBODY has responded. It seems this company does not like to communicate via email or text as they don’t like making promises or admitting they are wrong! I’ve also asked for a written invoice as to the work carried out on the wiper again I’ve received nothing. Stay well clear of this company! After you buy a car they are rude and unprofessional and they won’t fix the problem without a substantial fee.

Aftersales from Dealership in response to Rude and unprofessional
Hi Andy, Apologies you feel you had to leave this review, when you attended our site your car was parked across the entrance and exit of our unit and made it difficult to operate the business, a member of our team informed you you were unable to park there which you took exception to. The tracking was rectified on the day you brought the car to us as per your request at no cost to you, our apologies this took some time as the email sent by yourself was not seen/was missed we have acknowledged this. You brought to our attention a fault with the car purchased 1 year ago from ourself, during the call with your partner the warranty claim process was outlined and we caveated, as we always do, that if the work is on a covered component we would claim the diagnostic from the warranty company themselves, if not the diagnostic will be lost to the labour element of the work. During the diagnostic we found an issue with the rear jet and resolved the problem with no further cost to yourself and we even went as far as covering the cost of the part for you which again was explained to your partner over the phone and was happy with this. I spent 45 mnutes on a call with you the other day discussing this and stated we would be happy to spend some time with the car to offer further peace of mind which you accepted but then we haven't heard from you since. If you would like to discuss this matter further please feel free to call us or email aftersales@hitchfields.co.uk
I recently purchased an Audi RS3 from Hitchfields, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. James provided exceptional service throughout the entire process. From the moment I walked in, he was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the car. He walked me through every detail of the RS3, ensuring I was comfortable with all the features. The entire process was smooth, transparent, and hassle-free. I highly recommend James and the team at Hitchfields for anyone looking for their next high-performance vehicle!

Superb range of cars, all indoors out of the rain and snow when we came! We were left to browse at our leisure and James was great at providing us with all the information that we needed about the cars and the warranty. We will definitely be back to buy another car from James when our daughter passes her test.

Initially dealing with James, I was provided with a detailed history file on the Porsche Cayenne enquired about and I felt reassured that the car was of excellent quality and good provenance. It’s nice to be reassured that when spending a lot of money, a dealer is able to provide a very detailed video of the car and walk through of its features, service history etc. The car was delivered to my home last week on a trailer by John who was pleasant. I cannot express enough my recommendation for Hitchfields. Fab service!

I would like to thank Alastair for his help with both myself and my partner purchasing a car each from Highfields. He went out of his way to make sure the process went smoothly

Bought an Audi A3 as part of a distanced sale and all my fears and worries were quickly put to rest! Saw the car and I was DESPERATE for it! The dealership being over 200 miles away was my only real big question mark on the car but Liam kept me up to date through the whole process and arranged the delivery of my new Audi assuring me that if it wasn’t to my liking I could simply send it back. I am happy to say the car was everything I wanted it to be and so much more!

Initially I had a good experience with purchasing the car until I drove it home and took it to a mechanic to make sure nothing was wrong with it for him to turn around and tell me the arm bushes and pins knackered on both sides and had a coolant leak and needed a new radiator. After I found out I call this place and spoke to the after sales team and was told to bring the car back and they will fix it for me since i had the car a week and it was covered under warranty. (I live 2 hours away). So I took the car down thinking it will be getting fixed but no they was just looking at it and told me nothing is wrong with my suspension and they was going to fix my coolant leak they just need to order parts and they will get in touch when they are ready for me to take it again. So I went back home and a week had passed so I called them they had no idea who I was or why my car needed fixing but they told me to take it anyway and it will be done. I took down again and they told me it was all fixed, they had my car 2 days so I went and picked it back up thinking everything was fine I started to drive and I could hear a noise again so I took it to the mechanic near me just to be told they fixed NOTHING. so I called them back because they was fobbing me off at this point and said they are really sorry and don’t know what happened and needed to speak to his mechanics for him to say we will call you back when I get to the bottom of this and I didn’t hear back for a few days like usual. So I rang them and told them I think it was James who was dealing with this issue in the first place than he was on annual leave when I called again so I had to explain my situation again to a new person who had no idea about this who told me the car will definitely be fixed this time no problem. So I took the car down again, had my car for a few days again and they called me to say it’s ready to be picked up but my front parking sensors aren’t working due to “water damage” but it will be fixed by the time I get (the parking sensors worked perfectly fine before it went down there)there so I said no problem. I go collect the car and before I get in it I ask are my parking sensors working they said yes after driving it and parking it up so I said thank you and got in my car as he had gone inside because he had finished his shift. As soon as I get in the car and start it the parking sensors are flashing saying they are broke but I couldn’t do anything because they closed. I have given up with this place at this point I was so close to giving them the car back but I thought they’d fix it and now I’m left with forking out £200+ to fix what they should of because my car was covered under warranty and they broke the sensors. Funniest thing is the guy who “fixed” my car told me he was a Porsche specialist and knows what he’s doing but yet fits the radiator without unplugging my parking sensors so the wiring is all tangled in the radiator. So they gave me a new radiator but broke my sensors after 4 trips down there and didn’t do anything about my suspension. I spoke to another person that works there too explaining what happened and he told me it’s not the first time he has seen this happen.
